Shopping Plaza

In this 42,000㎡ urban green space, the goal was to better integrate commercial spaces with leisure outdoor areas. This led to the creation of a brand-new urban public space, an open district that combines cultural and recreational facilities along the riverside green area. GBA provided large custom canopies and outdoor railings, enhancing the project with both safety and aesthetic outdoor features.

◀ Design

The design embeds a two-story underground commercial space into the "canyon," with stepped landscaping connecting the canyon entrance to the ground-level green space. The most significant feature of the project is the green space itself, which serves as a public area attracting locals and visitors. This green addition revitalizes a previously overlooked corner of the city, infusing it with vibrant colors and natural life.

A city road divides the green space at the center of the site, with pebble-shaped openings on either side leading to the underground commercial space entrance. From a distance across the green space, only the gradually cascading rooftops above the openings are visible, subtly hinting at the presence of the "canyon" entrance.

Canopy

This custom canopy is a collaborative creation between us and the designers, featuring a three-tiered gradient design that addresses two key issues: support and drainage. Specifically, the design is divided into the following two points:

Support Design: The three-tiered gradient structure provides stable support by progressively stepping down, ensuring the canopy’s safety and durability in various environments. This design effectively distributes the load, enhancing structural stability while maintaining a sleek, modern appearance.
Drainage Design: Each tier of the gradient is designed with drainage functionality in mind, allowing rainwater to flow naturally off the roof and preventing water accumulation. This not only enhances the practical function of the canopy but also ensures long-term waterproofing, making it durable in various weather conditions.

Railing

The outdoor railings surround every edge of the plaza, utilizing the highest level of safety with the Balustrade glass railing system, paired with tempered glass. This combination not only ensures superior safety but also adds a modern, transparent aesthetic to the space. The tempered glass panels offer excellent durability, providing protection against impact while maintaining a clear, unobstructed view of the surrounding area.

The sleek design of the glass railings enhances the open, airy feel of the plaza, allowing for seamless integration with the surrounding environment.
